Nicola Blackwood - Blackwood Interiors, Edinburgh
You're doing your best work, and you've crafted an amazing business which is ready to serve - but no matter what you do, the right people just aren't finding you. Instead, you feel drowned out and undercut by your competition. What you do is fantastic, but you can't get your ideal clients to notice it.
So you turn to your website and social media - but you need to figure out what to share and how. Maybe you don't have any images, so you rely on boring stock images to 'fill a space', images which don't reflect your personality or values. Or maybe the photos you do have lack any character. They're bland, generic - looking like everyone else out there. Perhaps your profile picture makes you cringe - and selfies are no longer cutting it.
Your online presence is a bit 'bleurgh' - lacking in personality and impact.

A bank of unique, stand-out imagery available whenever and wherever you need it; for your website, social media profiles, print, PR and more. Images that help your target audience get to like you, see what is so brilliant about what you do, and ultimately trust you enough to buy from you.
Creative photography that you're proud to display to the world – that boost your confidence and put you streets ahead of your competition.
Headshots and brand photography often get talked about as if they’re the same thing, but they’re actually quite different experiences. A headshot session is short, simple and focused entirely on you. It’s perfect when you just need an updated profile image for LinkedIn, your website bio or a speaking event. Think clean, polished, friendly and professional. You show up, we chat, I gently guide you into natural poses and expressions, and you walk away with a small set of beautifully lit portraits that feel like the best version of you. No faff, no full-day planning, no pressure.
Brand photography, on the other hand, goes a lot deeper. Instead of simply showing what you look like, it tells the story of your business - what you do, how you work and why your clients love you. It gives you a whole bank of images for your website, marketing, social media, launches and PR. We plan together so I can understand your values, your personality and the message you want your audience to feel. On the day, we photograph you doing what you do best, alongside your workspace, tools, products, lifestyle details and a mix of portraits that feel warm, human and true to your brand. It’s a bigger investment, but it gives you months of ready-to-use content that genuinely connects.
So which one should you choose? If you just need one great image to represent you professionally, a headshot session is all you need. If you’re trying to stand out online, attract more of the right clients, or give your website and social media a real boost in personality and consistency, brand photography is the better fit. Most of my clients start with a headshot session to feel comfortable on camera, then move on to brand photography when they’re ready to tell their story in a richer, more confident way.

Images play a crucial role in how you portray your business to your customers and clients, and in how potential clients see you. We all shop with our eyes and – rightly or wrongly – often decide who to buy from based on first impressions.
We are bombarded by images every day so the photographs you use need to;

Business brand photography with me is about WAY more than just the photographs or professional headshots. It's a whole experience. It's about enhancing your business.
The minute you choose to work with me, I'll be doing everything I can to help your business succeed.
Ahead of your session, we'll work together to get really clear on what your brand is, what you're trying to communicate, and the most effective way to do it.
We'll review your current brand presence, especially online, and see how it can be improved. We'll also review your marketing strategy (or create one if you don't have one) to clarify what we need your photos and film to do for you.
We'll then come up with a detailed plan to ensure that your professional photography and film session runs smoothly, is fun and leaves you with hugely effective imagery.
And after the photography session? I won't leave you wondering what to do with all those images! We'll meet again so I can help you plan how to use your new images and help you with any of the logistics e.g. scheduling, resizing etc.
One of my superpowers is helping people to feel better about being in front of the camera. As a recovering photo-avoider myself I get how difficult it can be to put yourself forward to be seen in your business. Sessions with me are calm, relaxed... And yes – FUN! It is really important to me that you enjoy the process.
I have a lot of experience in helping the photo shy. From a calming cuppa before we get started (or gin if it's warranted!), to giving you affirmations to practice ahead of your session... I'll never EVER leave you feeling awkward or weird... Or wondering what to do with your hands! Yes, this is lifestyle photography, but that doesn't mean you don't get any direction!
Every. Single. Client. I work with comes away saying how much they enjoyed it – even if they'd been absolutely petrified about being on camera before we started.
These images will empower you, leaving you bursting to get out there any showcase your business.

I was quite nervous before getting the photoshoot done, but once we started Rebecca was absolutely AMAZING at making me feel comfortable, and just making it more fun, even in the middle of Edinburgh where there were loads of people going past. It was a really fun experience – I’ve got a cheek-ache from laughing so much, and not fake laughing – proper laughing! The photos are absolutely amazing! I usually hate photos of myself, but these are beautiful photos – I’m really, really happy with them.

I was very nervous before I met up with Rebecca as loathe being in front of the camera even in casual settings. But I needed to get professional photos done for my online business. Rebecca was very understanding and could tell I was terrified, so took me outside to a beautiful location where I could really relax rather than literally having the spotlight on me in a studio. Everyone has been wowed by the results and I’m absolutely thrilled because they are so different to what everyone else is showing up with. I’d thoroughly recommend Rebecca.

I'm a hybrid photographer, meaning that when I'm photographing I can also regularly capture snippets of film.
Using video in marketing is becoming increasingly important. Video is a fantastic way to quickly communicate who you are and what you do for your customers.
Video builds trust WAY quicker than images alone.
As part of your session, we can include a film of you at work, interacting with customers, and creating products. We can also include an interview describing what you do or use a simple voice-over.
Here's an example of a small film I made for Nicola at Blackwood Interiors.

Fellow photographer, Victoria Rose, came to me in need of a full brand photography session. Victoria was after a full set of images that showed her artistic, creative, quirky self. She wanted something different from everyone else, something that would stand her apart from her competition. The session had to include gorgeous fashion, the backdrop of wonderful Glasgow, loads of books, her favourite teddy and plenty of warm and relaxed expressions.
