Pricing & Process

Get the whole family together and let’s make some memories to hang on your walls! My family photography sessions are all about capturing hugs, laughter and cherished moments - whether it’s maternity, newborn, small families, large families, or even the whole extended clan. I work primarily in Edinburgh and the Lothians; however, I travel all over Scotland to capture beautiful photography for families. I also operate a warm, home-from-home photography studio in central Linlithgow for families who prefer to come to me.

Cost-wise, my family photography starts with a booking fee (£50 for studio, £190 for on location), and from there, I offer a range of digital packages and beautiful print products starting at £295, giving you options to suit different needs and budgets.

The process

STEP 1: BOOK A CHAT OR DOWNLOAD THE GUIDE

If you’re dreaming about having some gorgeous pictures of your family, the easiest first step is to reach out for a chat. Whether we connect over Zoom or on the phone, a friendly one-to-one is the perfect way to share your vision, explore some beautiful location ideas, and give you a clear picture of how I work. These chats are warm, relaxed, and totally pressure-free. It's simply a chance for us to chat, answer any questions, and see if we’re a good fit—no strings attached, just open conversation and genuine care.

At RHP, I don’t see ‘clients’; I see friends. So, if you’re comfortable, I’d love to hear your story.

However, if chatting with a stranger feels a bit much right now - I totally get it - click here to download my family photography booking and investment guide, which will give you lots of really useful information about how it all works.

STEP 2: SECURING YOUR PLACE

If you feel I'm a good fit for capturing your special moments, booking a session with me is super straightforward.

My user-friendly online system will walk you through the terms and conditions, information gathering, and booking fee payment, ensuring everything is transparent and straightforward.

A booking fee is required to secure your spot. It's non-refundable, but it’s my commitment to dedicating time, energy, and creativity to bringing your family’s story to life. Once that fee is paid, I'll help you craft a photography experience that is fun, relaxed and easy.

A little time now to make a booking equals years of looking back on beautiful memories.

STEP 3: PREPARATION

As soon as you’re on board, I’ll send over a comprehensive welcome guide, filled with practical tips to help you get ready for your session. And if you’re more of a visual person, no worries - I’ve put together a series of bite-sized videos to make the process even easier.

I’ll personally help you find the perfect spot for your photo session (either in my studio or on location) and help you make those little decisions, like choosing outfits that everyone will be comfortable in, and coaxing any shy children.

In the end, my goal is to make this prep phase feel like a joyful part of the journey, not just another checklist item (though I do have a checklist ready, if, like me, that’s your style!).

STEP 4: YOUR SESSION

Two days before your family photo session, I’ll reach out to confirm all the details, chat about any weather considerations, and answer any last-minute questions you might have. My goal is to make sure everything’s set for a truly memorable experience.

On the day, we’ll meet at your chosen location and let the magic begin! Get ready to soak up the joy of family time, to laugh, and to create beautiful memories together. And if you’re a little camera-shy, don’t worry, that’s my speciality! I’m here to make the whole thing feel relaxed and natural, guiding you along as a friend so you can really enjoy the experience.

A session with me isn’t just about capturing beautiful photos; it’s about having a wonderful time together.

STEP 5: choosing images and products

After the laughter and smiles of our session together, I’ll send over a couple of carefully chosen sneak peeks - a little taste of the wonderful memories we captured.

From there, I’ll get to work, thoughtfully editing each image to bring out its best. This process usually takes about 21 days, giving each photo the attention it deserves.

When everything’s ready, I’ll create a beautiful slideshow to showcase your images. I’ll reach out to schedule the perfect time for your big reveal, and you’ll have a full 24 hours to take it all in and decide on your next steps.

You'll have three digital packages to choose from, allowing you to select the perfect collection of images that speaks to you. From there, you can add any print products you’d like from my à la carte menu, allowing you to create exactly what you envision.

And remember, I’m here to help with anything you need as we turn the photographs into beautiful keepsakes.

STEP 6: PRODUCT CREATION AND DELIVERY

I take great pride in creating exquisite frames, albums, and prints to preserve your photographs. All of the items I provide for my customers are items I also use in my family home. I work closely with you to ensure every detail feels just right, including two rounds of revisions for albums and storyboard frames, to ensure they’re exactly as you envision.

Once everything is finalised, I’ll arrange delivery straight to your doorstep. And if you’d like a hand hanging your new frames, I’m more than happy to help!

If digital files are more your thing, I’ll guide you to the best places to print them, so they look as stunning as they should - no need for those subpar supermarket prints and more photo files hanging around on hard drives... This is about putting your photographs somewhere where you'll cherish them for years to come.

Studio or on-location?

Which is best for your family?
Rebecca Holmes Family Photography

STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHY MIGHT BE PERFECT FOR YOU IF...

You’re looking for a polished, high-end feel - think clean backdrops, perfect lighting, and a focus purely on your people.

You’ve got older kids or teens who’d rather not risk bumping into someone they know mid-shoot!

You’d love a more structured, streamlined experience (especially if you're short on time).

You want to avoid the unpredictability of Scottish weather messing with your hair or your schedule.

Your home isn’t camera-ready (and no judgement if it’s a bit of a disaster zone - mine often is too!).

On-Location Photography Could Be a Better Fit If…

You’ve got young children - especially toddlers or ‘spirited threenagers’ - who need space to move and explore.

You love the idea of capturing not just who you are, but where you live your life - be that your cosy home or a windswept beach.

Your family is more “let’s go for a wander” than “let’s sit still and pose.”

You want your surroundings - like nature, textures, light and colour - to be part of your story.

You’re gathering a big extended family group (my studio’s perfectly sized, but best for families of up to six people).

But Don’t Worry—The Vibe Is Always the Same

Whether you’re in my Linlithgow studio or splashing in puddles in the Pentlands, the experience will always be the same at its heart: relaxed, natural, joyful and very you. I’ll gently guide you every step of the way, so you’re never left wondering what to do.

Still not sure? That’s what our planning chat is for. We’ll talk about your kids’ ages, your home, how you spend your time together - and find the perfect fit from there.

'Daddy, we love Becca'
We recently had a family session with Rebecca and was delighted with our photos – would thoroughly recommend. The booking process was quick and easy and the session itself was extremely relaxed. Rebecca had huge patience with our three young boys and a combination of this patience and her clear talent as a photographer led to wonderful photos. ‘Daddy we love Becca’ was repeated several times on our way home so she certainly gained herself three new young fans as well as two adult ones!

I can't recommend Rebecca Holmes Photography highly enough! We had an outdoor family shoot with our 3 yo son and a newborn. Rebecca was wonderful, she made it so easy and relaxing. I was able to feed my baby when needed, our toddler had time to run about, there was no rush or posing, yet the photographs are simply stunning. So natural and beautiful, it brought tears to my eyes when I saw them for the first time. We will definitely be engaging Rebecca in future!

I want to offer my heartfelt appreciation, gratitude and praise to Rebecca Holmes for giving us a beautiful family shoot in local nature during autumn. Rebecca helped us all to feel relaxed on the day and showed a great deal of intuition, patience and understanding with our special daughter Orin, who needs a lot of care, encouragement and time. She also brought out the best in our teenage son and captured some wonderful images of him. A large variety of shots were taken, and Rebecca was very open to our own suggestions. The best part was that the whole experience felt like we were all spending quality time together – just hanging out with ‘and old friend’ and her camera! Thank you, Rebecca, for your ease, generosity and skill: as a creative, inspiring and trustworthy photographer.

I could not be happier with the photos that followed our Autumn session. The morning of the shoot was a particularly frosty -6°C, Rebecca very quickly struck up a warm and friendly rapport with my 3-year-old. It helped that Rebecca clearly knew the location well, and the best spots for a great backdrop. The session felt like a nice, crisp walk among beautiful surroundings. The photos are phenomenal and have only increased my admiration for the photography profession. Put your smartphone camera away and book a session with Rebecca, you will not regret it!
