Pricing & Process

Get the whole family together and let’s capture some of the good stuff - the hugs, the laughter, the little looks and all those wonderfully familiar things that make your family yours.

My family photography sessions are for all sorts of families and all sorts of seasons. Couples, maternity, newborns, little families, big families, grandparents, cousins and the whole extended clan are all very welcome.

Sessions can take place at my warm, relaxed photography studio in central Linlithgow, or on location at home or outdoors. I work throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians, and I’m also very happy to travel further across Scotland.

I like to keep pricing simple, so there are three family photography sessions to choose from, starting at £250. Your session and your digital photographs are included in the price, so there’s no separate session fee or package you need to choose afterwards.

You can book your session online whenever you’re ready. Or, if you’re not quite sure which session would suit your family, whether to come to the studio or choose a location, or you’d simply rather talk it through first, you can book a relaxed call with me instead.

You’ll find all three options and full pricing below, along with plenty of information about how everything works. No surprises or complicated sums required - just have a read and choose what feels right for your family.

The process

STEP 1: CHOOSE YOUR SESSION

Choose from a 30-minute, 1-hour or 2-hour family photography session, depending on what suits your family best. You can have your session at my studio in Linlithgow, at home or outdoors on location.

STEP 2: BOOK YOUR SESSION

Ready to go? You can book everything yourself online.

Choose your session by clicking one of the buttons below, pick an available date and pay your deposit to secure your booking. The remaining balance is due before your photoshoot, so everything is taken care of before we start.

Nice and simple.

STEP 3: GET READY

Once you’re booked, I’ll send you my welcome guide with everything you need to prepare - including what to wear, what to bring and how to help children feel comfortable.

I’ll also help with location and outfit choices if you need me. You won’t be left to figure it all out yourself (and yes, there’s a checklist for fellow checklist people).

STEP 4: YOUR PHOTOSHOOT

Before your session, I’ll check in to confirm the final details and, if we’re heading outdoors, keep an eye on the ever-reliable Scottish weather.

On the day, there’s nothing you need to perform or practise. I’ll guide you throughout, while giving everyone plenty of space to relax, play and be themselves.

The aim is simple: lovely photographs and a genuinely enjoyable time together.

STEP 5: RECEIVE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS

After your session, I’ll carefully select and edit your photographs, with your finished gallery ready in around 21 days.

Your digital photographs are already included in your session - 10 with a 30-minute session, 40 with a 1-hour session, or the full gallery with a 2-hour session.

No packages to choose afterwards and no surprise extra costs.

STEP 6: PRINT THEM, FRAME THEM, ENJOY THEM

Your digital photographs are yours to download and enjoy. If you’d also like prints, albums or beautiful frames for your walls, you’ll be able to order those separately.

I’m always happy to help you decide what will work in your home - because lovely photographs deserve better than spending the next ten years forgotten on a hard drive.

Studio or on-location?

Which is best for your family?

STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHY MIGHT BE PERFECT FOR YOU IF...

You’re looking for a polished, high-end feel - think clean backdrops, perfect lighting, and a focus purely on your people.

You’ve got older kids or teens who’d rather not risk bumping into someone they know mid-shoot!

You’d love a more structured, streamlined experience (especially if you're short on time).

You want to avoid the unpredictability of Scottish weather messing with your hair or your schedule.

Your home isn’t camera-ready (and no judgement if it’s a bit of a disaster zone - mine often is too!).

On-Location Photography Could Be a Better Fit If…

You’ve got young children - especially toddlers or ‘spirited threenagers’ - who need space to move and explore.

You love the idea of capturing not just who you are, but where you live your life - be that your cosy home or a windswept beach.

Your family is more “let’s go for a wander” than “let’s sit still and pose.”

You’re gathering a big extended family group (my studio’s perfectly sized, but best for families of up to six people).

'Daddy, we love Becca'

THE DEPOSIT

To secure your date, you’ll pay a £100 deposit when you book, with the remaining balance due before your photoshoot.

Your session price includes both your photography and your chosen number of digital images, so you’ll know exactly what you’re spending from the beginning. No separate session fees or packages to choose afterwards.

THE PRODUCT MENU

Your digital photographs are included with your session, so there’s absolutely no need to purchase anything else afterwards.

But if you’d love to get some of those photographs off your screen and onto your walls (or into an album you can actually hold), your online gallery includes a shop filled with beautiful, professionally made prints, frames and keepsakes.

Mounted print box with ten 5 x 7 inch prints and a mini easel for display - £175

I can't recommend Rebecca Holmes Photography highly enough! We had an outdoor family shoot with our 3 yo son and a newborn. Rebecca was wonderful, she made it so easy and relaxing.
